4-10-09: Your Choice Genres Work Day (A Days)
Today we completed a few more rationale sheets for our Punctual Piece.
Then we talked through the Presentation Component of the Research Assignment. We all signed up for a day to present--so if you missed, you'll need to call or email me about signing up.
Then we had the rest of the period to work on finishing our Multi-genre papers.
Remember the Multi-genre Project is due Tuesday, April 21st the Tuesday we come back from Spring Break. It must be in class that day. If you are sick, you must have your parents, a friend, or a neighbor bring it to me. If you can't find anyone to bring it to me, you must call me and I will pick it up from your house! I need it here, and if it's late it will be docked severely.
Have fun over spring break!
1. Finish Multi-genre
2. Read your book

Before we went to the library today, we started reading the sources we found last class and completing the Research Reading Charts for those sources.
Then we continued to research our topics in the library. Just like last time you were to PRINT out three research soruces that you found online or CHECKOUT three books you found in the library or a combination of the the two. IF YOU MISSED CLASS, YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE THIS UP. THIS ASSIGNMENT GOES ON 3RD TERM'S GRADE!
Now you have 6 sources total! And at least three different types of sources. Get this done ASAP, or you'll be behind for next term.
If you missed class, it is essential that you get started on this research assignment! Please start searching online. And please use the Pioneer Database! To access it from home the login name is: Pioneer. And the password is: home
For Monday:

3-5-09: Night p. 99-109 (B Days)
Today we turned in Night p.99-109 questions and Writer's Notebook #7, so if you missed class get those in ASAP!
We started off the day with our punctual piece:
Answer both questions: (at least 3 sentences for each question).
-What causes do you strongly believe in? Connect with? Want to learn more about?
-If you could get a message across to a large group of people, who would those people be? What would your message be?
Then we took a reading quiz on p.99-109.
Next we read talked through the punctual piece and proceeded to read "The Perils of Indifference," Elie Wiesel's speech he delivered when he received the Nobel Peace Prize. We discussed how Wiesel's cause is to fight indifference and to encourage individuals to stand up for what is right and fight against genocide. This is something that Elie has devoted his life to, and is something he is passionate about.
Next we again thought about what we are passionate about, and selected two topics for research we will be starting next week. Then we formed questions about those two topics on the Topic->Question Assignment. (If you missed class, make sure you make this up right away!) If you are still having a hard time thinking of a topic, check out these topic ideas.
