5-20-09: Three Cups of Tea Ch. 22-23 (B Days)

5-19-09: Three Cups of Tea Ch. 18-21 (A Days)

What change do you want to be in the world? How could you go about being that change?
Then to cover chapters 18-21 in one class period we did an activity called a Jigsaw. We broke up into groups and each group was responsible for one chapter. They answered questions about the chapter and filled out a sheet to prepare to teach some other classmates about their chapter. Then we created new groups with one person from each chapter and you taught each other and took notes on the other chapters.
For Thursday:
1. Read Chapters 22-23
2. Finish all Late or Missing Work!

If you missed class, you will need to make up the Stations Activity. Most of the Stations are on our website. For a few, you will have to come and make them up with me before or after school or during 1st lunch.

Today we started class with our Punctual Piece. We practiced a reading strategy to figure out unknown words from context clues in the book.
Then we broke into six groups and each group focused on one chapter: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, or 10. As a group, you read the chapter, then answered some questions, and created a story board depiction of the chapter.
If you missed class, you will probably want to read at least one of the three chapters (5, 7, 10) that we covered in class in addition to your assigned reading: 1, 2, 3.
